Danilo (Danny) - Salon Manager
Danny is a fourth generation hairdresser, from a family that is all about hair. Along with his commitment to his Basecuts clients, Danny works in television, editorial (Italian Magazines) and most recently session work in South Beach. He's an extremely creative stylist, Toni & Guy trained, who loves to cut hair from classics to street. For something different or new , Danny's your man.
Marilyn - Director
Marilyn, born in South Africa is our most senior stylist and Director, is responsible for setting the standards for others to follow. Her experienced touch and easygoing manner gives clients the confidence to experiment with styles and trends, and her formidable colouring skills open a world of possibilities. Whether you're just looking to relax in the hands of a seasoned professional or seeking the adventure of radical restyle Marilyn believes the experience should be a pleasure. MELLI - Director
Melli has 17 years experience gained in a wide variety of environments - salon, stage, catwalk, television and teaching - but still she regularly attends professional courses. A dedicated stylist who prides herself on awareness of emerging trends, Melli is able to keep her client informed and offer tailored advice on how current trends can be incorporated into individual styles. Precision cuts and colouring that allow flexibility of styling are her trademark. This popular Director has an extremely loyal client base so advance booking is strongly advised. Melli is also multilingual in Turkish and German.
Yuki - Director
Hi, I trained in Tokyo and am working as a Director in Basecuts, Portobello Road. I enjoy my time with all my clients and like to have a good chin-wag with them. I am interested in beauty, make-up, fashion and nails. I absolutely love the buzz in Portobello Market and enjoy shopping there also - why not come down sometime and see for yourself?
Rachel - Senior Stylist
With 13 years experience I did my training in Australia learning all aspects of hairdressing. I often entered hair shows and competitions as I worked my way up to being a senior stylist. I was runner up 'Newcomer Of The Year' L'Oreal Colour Trophy Awards 1997. Andrej - Senior Stylist
Slovenian born Andrej Skok, is an infatuated fashion stylist based in London working at Portobello Base Cuts part time (Saturdays and Sundays only) as a senior stylist. The rest of his time he dedicates to his fashion freelance styling jobs and art directing for different fashion projects.
Ewan - Senior Stylist
My name is ewan treadgold. I have been a hairdresser for five years, and worked in the industry for seven. I am currently a senior stylist at Basecuts, and have worked self employed for the last three years. I done part of my training at Toni and Guy, and other training at Vidal Sassoon. I specialise in cutting hair at Basecuts, and when not cutting hair I like drinking and music, preferably at the same time.
Britta - Stylist
Britta is a five years experienced passionate stylist. Trained in Hamburg at Wella Studio, proficient in a wide range of cut and colour techniques for men and women's hair. Enjoys working creative but also to suit a clients needs, open-minded and professional - always dedicated for new trends. German native speaker with a very friendly charisma.
Tony - Director
Tony Traxler has twenty years experience in NYC styling some of the most demanding characters imaginable. Seeing what a client may not see for themselves comes with experience and natural talent. Speaking frankly but kindly while convincing new and old clients to make the most flattering decisions is half the fun in being a stylist.
Mel - Receptionist
I have been working at Basecuts for 6 weeks and in the hairdressing industry for 13 years. I have worked as a receptionist at Vidal Sassoon and also as receptionist/manager at Tommy Guns. I find my job very interesting and challenging. I enjoy working in this creative environment where I constantly get to meet new people.
Jenny - Stylist
Originally from Canada I've been a hairstylist for six years I began my career as a colourist. Resulting in a firm grasp, understanding and appreciation of hair colour. I value branching out to cutting and enjoy the variety of clientele it provides. I thrive on the energy of Portobello road, I m also doing an internship at a record label in the area, and feel very much at home here.
I excel in effective communication and listening skills which leads to good client relations and a high satisfaction rate.
